Unlocking the Secrets of the Brain: A Transformative Journey for High-Performing Executives
At C3, we’re always looking for ways to push the limits of performance, not just in business, but in how we think, lead, and live. This mindset recently led a group of our executives on a unique and eye-opening journey. For the past five months, Jamie Reid, Gabe Erle, and Matt Clark have been exploring the science of brain health with neuroscientist Dr. Kristen Willeumier.
Dr. Willeumier, known for her groundbreaking work with the NFL and Amen Clinics, joined our team for an in-depth seminar on how neuroscience can elevate leadership performance. What began as a simple question, “Can we improve our brain performance?” turned into a transformative experience that redefined the way we think about mental fitness. At the High-Performing Minds: Assessing and Elevating Executive Brain Power event, Dr. Willeumier dove into her process working with Jamie, Gabe, and Matt, and the results from their brain health journey.
The process started with cognitive and mental health assessments, including a fascinating tool called QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography), which maps brain activity in real time. These insights revealed how different regions of the brain contribute to focus, memory, and decision-making, key areas for leaders in any field.
From there, our team participated in neurofeedback training, a hands-on process that teaches the brain to self-correct and perform more efficiently. While the idea of controlling visuals on a screen using only brainwaves sounded futuristic at first, it quickly became an engaging and empowering exercise. Within just ten sessions, our executives noticed measurable improvements in focus, energy, and mental clarity.
This journey sparked meaningful lifestyle changes across our leadership team. From improving sleep and reducing alcohol consumption to prioritizing nutrition and movement, each step reinforced how everyday habits directly affect our cognitive performance.
Gabe stated, “I didn’t expect it to be so impactful. Seeing your brain activity on a screen and realizing you can train it changes the way you think about everything.”
For us at C3, this experience underscored an important truth: growth starts from within. The mind is a powerful, adaptable tool, and investing in brain health is one of the most strategic decisions a leader can make.
As Dr. Willeumier reminded us, “It is very possible to change the brain. Neuroimaging is the future; it shows us how capable we truly are.”
At C3, we’re proud to have partnered with Dr. Willeumier on this incredible journey and look forward to bringing the lessons we’ve learned into every part of our work and our lives.
